London Fashion Week AW15

London Fashion Week kicked off at Somerset House on Friday for its 31st year of being presented in the capital city. The bi-annual event, which is held in February and September, showcases some of the best designers and brands from all around the world. Some of the most renowned designers that display their collections at LFW are Burberry Prorsum, House of Holland, Julien Macdonald, Mulberry and Topshop Unique.

The Topshop Unique show is always a highlight of the week and, every year, it has a pretty spectacular front row. This season was no exception with people such as Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Ellie Goulding and Alexa Chung gracing the front benches to see what the high street store had to offer. The show took place at the Tate Britain on Sunday 22nd February, the third day of the fashion week, at 3pm.

The Topshop collection presented an abundance of new season trends from a sky blue corduroy blazer, to oversized faux fur coats. From patent trousers, to thigh slit skirts and dresses. The show had something for everyone. The inclusion of tweed kilts and cable knit jumpers also gave the collection a quintessentially British quality.

A new trend that was featured quite heavily throughout the collection was fluffy arm cuffs. Many of the coats shown included them on the sleeves and even a few dresses sported dark shaggy arm cuffs that gave a unique and different aspect to an otherwise simple black dress.

The Topshop Unique collection seemed to be a success with fashion critics and the international women’s magazine Marie Claire described the collection as ‘the clothes we actually want in our wardrobes next season’.
