The New Face of ITV Football

AT LAST football fans have seen the last of Adrian Chiles’ frightening face hosting ITV’s football, and he’s being replaced by someone who’s actually accredited to be in the position and knows what he’s talking about.

By Scott Edwards

That’s right! Earlier today, the laborious tones that echo from the West Bromwich Albion supporters scowl have been silenced for good (hopefully!), after ITV continued the reform of their football hosts.

It was just a few weeks ago that Andy (state the bleeding obvious) Townsend ‘’left by mutual consent’’, after the television company announced they were having a serious rethink about the hosts for their football.

Throughout the World Cup last year, social networks ripped into Chiles whose ‘face for radio’ was plastered over our screens, making it even more difficult for us to watch England lose all the time.

So, everyone will be glad to know that the face you see in the picture above is 46-year-old, accredited sports journalist, Mark Pougatch, who from February will be taking a skinnier chair and replacing the ‘plump comfort’ one currently burrowed into the floor of the ITV football studio.

Respected BBC listeners will finally be able to put a face to the name of their current Radio 5 Live presenter, as Mark makes the frowned move to live on channel three (probably in fear Radio 5 will soon follow BBC Three into the swanny!).

Mark has made the permanent switch to ITV after previous success with hosting F.A Cup shows, Champions League and Europa League shows across the network. You will clearly see from clicking the link below, that he’s a lot better to look at, listen to and agree with, than that big lumbering, unaccredited oaf that decides to constantly compare West Brom’s tactics to those of Real Madrid on Tuesday night, at every chance he can get.

I can safely speak for every fan, young and old, and including the vast majority of West Brom fans, that we will not be missing Adrian Chiles and we hope that his return to hosting anything on TV is a long, painful and non-existent one.
