The course tutor, Dani Wozencroft said: “The NCTJ course is pivotal if you wish to pursue a career in Journalism”. The award was presented to Dani in a ceremony held at the City Hall in Sheffield as part of the Journalism Skills Conference on November 27th by BBC Television and Radio presenter Dan Walker.

Teaching the NCTJ course in her first year at the college, Dani saw five of her thirteen students awarded the Gold Standard pass achieving A-C grades over five exam modules and achieving one hundred words per minute shorthand.

After winning the award for the third year, the College was approached by the BBC and was asked to start up an apprenticeship in conjunction with the NCTJ in a three way partnership which is taught at BBC West Midlands in Birmingham’s Mail Box. From last year’s course, nine students went on to work as full time journalists in newspapers across the Midlands.
