A well preserved Wolly Mammoth that was found frozen in Siberia on the Maly Lyakhovsky Island in 2013, is said to have walked the earth nearly 40,000 years ago.

The mammoths flesh and fur was fully intact upon it's discovery, however there was an usual liquid pouring out of the ice and scientists confirmed it was blood. Two of world’s top mammoth experts arrived to examine the body; Professor Dan Fisher of the University of Michigan and Professor Alexis Tikhono form Zoological Institute of St Petersburg including other scientist who have travelled thousands of miles to examine and look the beast and wanted to explore her life in great detail.

Geneticist Insung Hwang and his team of cloning scientists came from a South Korean biotech company called Sooam; they have perfected cloning of livestock for farms and pet dogs for the rich. Insung Hwang said “The mammoth died out a few thousand years ago and some of the carcasses that are being found in Siberia these days, it gives you hope that one day you’re to be able to see the mammoth again”

They want to try and clone the mammoth using her DNA, because they think mammoths should prevent global warming by increasing reflecting light by felling trees which absorb sunlight, punching though snow so that freezing air penetrates the soil and finally they will be eating the dead grass enabling the sun to reach spring grass whose deep roots prevent erosion.

Piece of her flesh was examined a year ago and it revealed that she walked the earth 40,000 years ago, she was in her 50s, a leader of her heard and mother to eight calves’ but her death was quite terrible.

She walked into a swamp and drank the water, she started to sink trapping herself, unable to move, its thought predators ate her alive.

Over the next two years, thousands of more samples will be analysed and scientists are hoping to find a way to clone a mammoth and bring it back to life.
