For students, reaching a film set can seem like a dream in the distant future, however, Natasha Clarke has some very exciting news that could get you behind the lens in no time.

Recently I’ve had the honour of working with Gear Up HQ, a company based in Stretton, Staffordshire, on a short film project.
Working with their Creative Departments, along with being a student myself, this opportunity has been incredible. From the director’s idea, my sister and I have co-wrote a script, and in November, principal photography will begin for the short film, Dissociate - (@Dissociate_ on Twitter).
One thing that Gear Up HQ is keen to provide is experience for local based talent. They have a passion for what they do, and they want to encourage people with the same passion to create high quality content. Whilst working with them, this has become incredibly apparent, especially when giving us free creative rein based on a belief in our skills.
The high quality, specialist equipment they buy is available to use at a reasonable cost for anyone that wants to make their video endeavours look professional. They also offer equipment demos and training, for anyone interested in using their equipment. In the near future, Gear Up are hopefully aiming to establish links with local universities and colleges, such as Wolverhampton, to encourage the growth of the industry in the West Midlands. The company are also keen to support student projects too, and offer students deals on equipment and packages in order to make your content stand out.
In doing so, Gear Up HQ hope to give students opportunities so that at the end of their courses they have key experience needed in order to get jobs in their areas of interest.
As aforementioned, I have worked with the company in the pre-production stages to make Dissociate happen. While they have provided the majority of the funding and equipment themselves, only a few principle costs are being asked to be covered through crowdfunding. I only ask of you, if possible, to share the link at the bottom of this page across social media platforms.
If you’re interested in working with Gear Up Creative, Gear Up Corporate, or Gear Up Hire, you can contact them by phone or email and in doing so work towards gaining some experience in the industry.
