Each November, millions of people across the UK wrap up warm and travel to their local parks or pubs, to enjoy the well-known Guy Fawkes tradition. Despite the expected freezing temperatures, Bonfire night allows us to have an overall exciting and sociable evening watching the attractive sparks fly for such a renowned holiday. Please do not become one of those who resorts in gazing at distant fireworks from their bedroom window this year! There are plenty of affordable and entertaining events happening right in your area, allowing you to get up close and personal with the fireworks whilst having a pleasant evening with family or friends.
First of all, why not head to West Park for a family-friendly night! Located on Kingsland Road, West Park is known to be one of the best kept and few Victorian municipal parks we have left in the country. Its annual firework display never fails to disappoint. Held on Saturday 1st November and starting at 6:00pm, West Park is charging £4.95 for adults and £3.30 for children. A fairly reasonable amount for what you are expected to see based on past events. There are also plenty of refreshments available to satisfy your needs and it is based just a short 10 minutes away from Wolverhampton city centre.
Secondly, the highly popular event at Himley Hall is making a return this year! Himley is located just outside of Wolverhampton and its bonfire event has previously been named ‘The largest Local Authority Fireworks display in the Country’. You don’t just get fireworks; there is live music, a large fun fair and several food and drink outlets, what more could you ask for? Although the admission price for Himley hall is usually more expensive than the others, you are certain to get what you pay for! The year’s event will be held on Saturday 8th November, with the gates opening at 4:30pm and the bonfire lit at 7:45pm. The famous firework display starts at 8:30pm.
If you are a lover of animals, this final event could be for you. You can get a two in one treat with the West Midlands Safari Park Firework Festival. Do not worry, they do have the bonfire and fireworks far away from the animals! The on the night admission charge is £11.99 per adults, however booking online can save you up to 25%. It starts from the afternoon allowing you access to the animals and then enjoyment from the bonfire in the evening, as well as the chance to buy an additional wristband to gain access to the rides at their miniature theme park. A whole day of fun! Drinks and traditional bonfire food is available. You also get a choice of whether to attend on Saturday 8th November or Sunday the 9th, starting from 2:00pm on the Saturday and 1:00pm on Sunday.
These are the three most popular local events which promise you a good time, there are however plenty more to choose from including your local pubs and rugby clubs. Wherever you decide to go to celebrate the tradition, you are set to have a spectacular night as always at this exciting time of year.
