The Second coming of the Messiah – Russell Brand

Following his highly successful world tour of ‘The Messiah Complex’, Russell Brand returned to the UK for a short encore tour hitting Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre, on the way.

If fans ever needed confirmation that the living embodiment of Christ was none other than Russell Brand – they need only attend his Messiah Complex show. Those familiar with Brand knew not to expect anything less than the sex crazed, intelligent and political ramblings of a messy haired lunatic; and that’s exactly what attendants of the show got.

A surprisingly diverse sold out audience enjoyed a controversial set cushioned by Russell’s soulful enthusiasm, not to mention his passionate display of his literal worship of women. A complimentary support set came from poet Mr Gee who knew how to fuel the audiences anticipation.

Littered with bludgeoning theories on popular culture, propaganda and world leaders, Brand justifies himself as not only Jesus Christ, but also Ghandi, Malcolm X and only after comparing his fans to Adolf Hitler – he dubbed himself the new Che Guevara.

Describing it as nothing other than a mental illness, it’s safe to say Brand lives up to his promise of insight into the life of a long time sufferer of a messiah complex. Yes, it is an actual disorder.

For those of you that feared that Brands brief departure to the US meant he’d lost his English charm – fear no longer. Brand is back and more mentally unstable than ever.

If you missed out on the tour fear not for his self-proclaimed holy stature has been captured live on DVD from the Hammersmith Apollo in London.
