Taking the UK by Storm - Halestorm Review

Fresh off their full US tour, Halestorm took to the UK hitting the most reputable venues including Birmingham’s biggest room at the o2 Academy before they head out to Europe.

With only two full length albums - most recently ‘’The Strange Case of…’’, Halestorm have already rallied fans in their thousands – evident by their almost-sold-out show in Birmingham.

Charismatic front-woman Lzzy Hale, repeatedly expressed her gratitude for their fans and ‘freaks’ while her hyperactive brother and drummer Arejay Hale, who treated the crowd to an impressive extended drum solo.

The Pennsylvanian quartet got off to a slow but grungy start with ‘I Miss The Misery’ but turning up the heat later on with ‘Love Bites’ and fan favourite ‘Freak Like Me’. In tribute to Ronnie James Dio they covered ‘Straight Through the Heart’. This was followed by a pleasant surprise in the form of a new single, taking a refreshingly heavy turn for the better called – ‘Get Some’. So heavy in fact what ensued is what may well have been a few fans very first moshing experience.

Finally, Halestorm chose their popular cover of ‘Get Lucky’ - an obvious but non-the-less-successful encore to a fantastic night.

First support came in form of a heavier set from The Smoking Hearts who earlier this year toured with Black Veil Brides at our very own Civic Hall. In contrast, addictive riffs but compromising vocals came from conflicting newcomers Dayshell.

Having had an exceptional start to 2014, Halestorm will tonight round off their UK run with a tremendous sold out show at the London Forum before heading over to Europe.
